Did You Know?

Major Edmund Lockyer was placed in command of an expedition by order of Governor Darling on 4th of November 1826. The Major was given instructions that he was to land troops to signify to the French in particular that the whole of New Holland was now subject to His Britannic Majesty’s Government and that orders have been given for the Establishment of a settlement at King George’s Sound.
